New Osteopathy Clinic! – We’re in!!

All appointments at Bannerdale Osteopaths will now be from our purpose build new clinic in Nether Edge, we’re so happy to be finally in and look forward to welcoming you to the practice!

The website still needs updating so please ignore the fact it still lists our address as 280 Abbeydale road that will be changing over the next few days.

You may well have noticed that we’ve had a bit of a redesign of our logo, many thanks to the very talented Sarah Evans for giving us a fresh new modern look to match our clinic.

We want to be as useful to the people of Sheffield as possible so we welcome feedback on any other therapies you’d like to see in the practice in the future. We currently have a dedicated team

  • Ali who provides Reflexology, Reiki and Indian head massage
  • Richard who is a qualified clinical hypnotherapist
  • Rachel our homeopath
  • Jade who is starting next Wednesday as the Sports Massage therapist

It would seem that the governments Green Deal scheme isn’t quite ready for businesses to utilise yet 🙁 All this means is the date we will move in will probably be later than we had hoped! I’ve been reliably informed that Green Deal will go live in 5-8 weeks so things should start moving then! What’s this Green Deal I hear you ask well the link takes you to info about it. It’s essentially a government initiative to reduce the carbon footprint of the UK. You get a loan which is linked to the building not you and is used to carry out energy efficiency improving work such as insulation, boilers and double glazing. You then continue to pay the same amount in bills to your utility supplier but as your building is now using a lot less energy the excess repays your loan and once it’s repaid you will benefit financially from the energy efficiency changes to your business or home.

An example would be a building that uses £1000 in energy every year. Upgrading the boiler would save £300 pounds a year so £700 in energy. You would continue to pay your energy supplier £1000 but only £700 pays for the utilities and £300 goes towards paying back the loan for the boiler. After 5 years or so once the loan is repaid you only have £700 bills!

The benefits are:

  • You reduce your carbon footprint as soon as the work is completed and feel like you’re leaving a healthier planet for future generations.
  • There are no upfront costs to pay to have the work done.
  • After the loan is repaid you save money.
  • Local builders benefit from carrying out the work which is good for both the Sheffield and UK’s economy.

I’ll keep you posted on how it is all shaping up so watch this space!

Kind regards

Steven Ojari

Over the next couple of months we need to convert this building from the rather rundown state it’s currently in, to a nice, clean, modern clinic. Whilst little is changing externally except the signthe inside will be transformed into two treatment rooms, a small waiting area and WC.

It also will be insulated and have an energy efficient boiler fitted as we want to keep our businesses carbon footprint as light as possible and with the winter we’ve just had that’s no easy feat!

We are making the building as wheelchair and buggy friendly as possible which has left us scratching our heads on numerous occasions due to the layout and size of the building! Thankfully we have the help of our architect / feng shui consultant Joy Taylor who is creating a really lovely friendly little clinic for us

As we need to change the business use of the building from butchers to a clinic we’ve had to submit a planning application. No external changes to the building will be happening except a change of sign and opaque glass in the front window, much like the dentists. You can see the full plans by visiting the town hall or going online to

We aim to keep disruption to an absolute minimum, but would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during the changes.

If you have any questions about us, what we do or the planning application I’m more than happy to talk to you about it.

PS – Sebastian has already moved in and has a little competition to give money to a local charity, pop down to the building to see how to enter
