Sheffield's Expert Ongoing Pain Specialist | Steven Ojari

“I love nothing more than helping someone discover the root causes of their problem & then working with them to not only overcome the issue but prevent it coming back so they are in control of their life and find freedom”

Steven loves helping a wide variety of patients and has studied extensively in Ongoing pain and Paediatrics, amongst many other subjects and never stops learning.

My focus is always on how to help people achieve the best results possible that last and put you in control and at the centre of your recovery.

I’ll always strive to make sure we build an understanding of why you are in pain, what needs to happen for it to improve and not come back and help you get there.

The real recovery happens between appointments and this is why a clear understanding of what is happening allows you to make progress without me! As much as I love helping people, I never want you to become a patient for life and appraise myself by the number of people I help leave my care as a life sentence to a therapist shouldn’t be anyone’s aim.

I’ll incorporate lifestyle and exercise advice to avoid reoccurrence and when you leave you’ll be an expert in all the things relevant to keeping yourself healthy and pain free.

I believe that life is about learning and no one should ever think they’ve learnt enough to stop. I spend hours every week improving my knowledge and ability to help people by reading, researching, attending conferences and making sure I’m never too far from what I see as the cutting edge of healthcare.

My focus is always on how can I distil what I learn into something actionable that the people I help can understand and want to do, so they get the benefit. I believe in what I do, but am always open to improving and finding better ways!

I used to teach at Leeds Met University being head of year for osteopathic technique but left in 2015 to focus all my attention on helping people find a lasting solution to their pain. Find out more about Our Values

My Story

“I became an Osteopath because helping people is what I feel my life is about. I hate to see people feeling like they are a victim and there’s nothing worse than pain for making you feel like that. Being an Osteopath combines my skills and things I best enjoy; helping people and problem-solving so that I can give people more control over their life through empowerment and helping them learn.

The cause of someone’s complaint is often a little deeper than it appears. The bit that hurts is the victim not the culprit. I love nothing more than helping someone discover the root cause and then working towards not only overcoming the symptoms but also preventing re-occurrence, whilst helping people do the things they really want to be able to do without pain being a barrier.

My philosophy is quite simple when it comes to being an Osteopath I am here to help guide you towards health. The human body has a fantastic capacity to heal and grow and it is by removing any barriers to this that a healthy happy life can be enjoyed.

“I’ve deliberately left writing this review 3 months after finishing an extensive treatment course from Steve at this clinic. Reason being I’ve suffered from intermittent non traumatic lower back pain for years and I wanted to see if it came back! And…. I’m completely symptom free 🙂 As with all these things, you as the patient have to be receptive and do your exercises, working with Steve has given me a stronger and perfectly working lower spine. Crucially I have now have a toolkit of exercises that I can use during my usual daily routine to keep me well. This was my first experience of Osteopathy, I would completely endorse this clinic. The support, face to face and online, gives blended care that really helps guide your path to recovery. The opening hours are great, really flexible and accommodating.

6 month follow up: all the above still stands, if you put the work in, this clinic can really help.”

“I’ve had a back problem for 50 years which I have managed reasonably successfully myself. I, however, was persuaded to go to Bannerdale to see if it was possible to improve my condition as old age approached. It’s been a revelation! Steven explains how conditions develop and how exercises can improve, posture, walking etc. Understanding why your doing exercises and how they improve your condition is a big incentive to actually do them. Monitoring and encouragement is aided by the App.
The decision, made by my wife, to go to Bannerdale has been a very positive experience.”

Caroline, Sheffield – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review – https://g.co/kgs/purYj1

“Since contacting Bannerdale Osteopaths over a month ago, I have had nothing but top-rate service provided by Steven. He has been so patient and understanding and has really listened to everything I have told him about my issue. He has absolutely smashed my expectations after a few bad experiences with other osteopaths/chiropractors had left it hard to feel that there would ever be anyone that could actually help me to make progress with my issue. Happy to say I am definitely seeing improvements in my condition but understand that is it a process and it takes time and commitment. I wholeheartedly recommend that anyone who is suffering with an issue that you think might be helped by visiting an osteopath, to arrange a meeting with Steven. You won’t regret it.”

Grant, Sheffield – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review – https://g.co/kgs/YbtJyf

“I first went to see Steven in November 2021 after suffering with back spasms for many months. Not only was he able to fix my back issues, he was also able to help me to look for triggers that might contribute towards me getting more back pain in the future. My understanding of my body is so much better with Steve’s help, he’s incredible at his job.”

Amy, Sheffield – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review – https://g.co/kgs/rmE1fV

“Steven is a highly skilled and sensitive osteopath. He went the extra mile to find out the root causes of my muscular skeletal issues. He encouraged me to take charge of my own recovery, emailing relevant video exercises that I can do at home. The treatment has been so sucessful that after a few sessions I only have to return every 6 months whereas with a previous osteopath I used to have to go much more frequently.”

Emma, Sheffield – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review – https://g.co/kgs/ttH5G7

“Excellent advice and therapy. Really knowledgeable and absolutely worthwhile for my back issues.”

Tom, Sheffield – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review – https://g.co/kgs/fKYScc

Moira, Sheffield – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review – https://maps.app.goo.gl/oNVurXkK2XKHG2aB8

“I keep returning to Bannerdale Osteopaths for treatment as the service has always been great. Rather than just treating the symptom they look to identifying the cause of the issue and ensuring that the symptoms don’t reoccur. This, alongside the desire to understand how resolving the issue can fit in with your lifestyle, means that you don’t come away with just a temporary solution but a greater understanding of how everything is connected and the ability to prevent further issues. Definitely recommend.”

Anna, Sheffield – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review – https://g.co/kgs/FS4VQS

“Brilliant service from initial online consultation to great sensitive and friendly work from Steven. He explained what was happening, gave effective treatment and the exercises were very helpful in building up the repair. Many thanks, Steven!”

Ruth, Sheffield – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review – https://g.co/kgs/FMDRVV

“A very professional and innovative clinic. Great exercise schedule, with plenty of options for ones I found too difficult and great results from these exercises – i will continue to use these to keep my shoulders strong and mobile. Excellent results too with the laser and exercise plan for my planter fasciitis”
