Looking for an online appointment with a fully qualified physiotherapist? Our online clinic is the one for you.

Online Physio Bannerdale Osteopaths

Lots of people are still self-isolating, practicing social (physical) distancing and choosing to limit their physical contact with others, and this is due to continue for the foreseeable future. This does not mean that all of your problems go away. In fact, it is more likely that you will be feeling tense and stressed – both of which will aggravate any existing complaints. Then there is your new home working setup, which is probably not great, so back pain along with neck and shoulder pain are expected to increase. This is why we are now offering Online Physiotherapy treatment to our patients.

Our online Physiotherapy treatment is not simply a series of stand-alone appointments, it is a whole new way of treating and the benefits to you do not end when you close your laptop after your first consultation. That is why we have put together the Virtual Healthcare Plan.

Get the right advice and bespoke management plan quickly, in the comfort of your own home… without ever having to spend time in a waiting room.

How does a Physio give an appointment online?

Physiotherapists have been moving towards offering a more exercise based ‘hands off’ approach to treating, and online appointments are a perfect example of how this way of treating can produce the same, if not better, results than a more traditional treatment model by putting you in charge of your health and recovery, provided you are willing to put in some of the work and follow the bespoke healthcare plan we create for you.

In order to be most effective, you will need to completely engage with the bespoke healthcare plan your physiotherapist puts together for you and communicate on a regular basis to make sure any issues you have or progress you are making is tracked in the app.

Online Physio appointments are quite simple. We use specialist software called PhysiApp, so we can see each other face to face, discuss your symptoms, carry out any movement tests we think would be beneficial, and then we can share our screen with you and take you through self-massage videos, stretches and exercises.

Before your Initial Appointment, you will receive an email from us with details of how to join the appointment. Follow the instructions and try to make sure that your laptop, tablet or smartphone is set up and ready to go a few minutes before our start time.

We can then talk and discuss your symptoms like we usually would, and use our skills to diagnose and prescribe you some exercises or changes to your daily routine that we think will help.

How many virtual appointments will I need?

This is a tricky question and depends on the condition or injury, how you respond to the treatment and how much you interact with the program we put in place for you. Typically, the more feedback you give us, the better you will respond and the quicker you will feel the benefits.

Because of this, Virtual Physiotherapy Appointments are set up slightly differently. You will have your initial appointment as we have described above, and then you will be put onto a weekly health care plan where you have access to the treatment plan we have created for you and the ability to communicate with your physiotherapist as much as you need to including as many appointments as required. During this time we expect you to learn much more about how to manage your symptoms and what works well for you.

The most effective physiotherapy treatment involves exercise therapy, advice and education, which is exactly what you are getting here, with 24 hour access to your Physiotherapist.

After 3 weeks, if you still need us, you will be moved onto an ongoing monthly care plan, which is to offer you ongoing support. You will still be able to contact us, have appointments, your exercises will still be available and you should continue to recover.

What are the benefits of having an online Physio treatment plan?

The main benefit of an online treatment plan is that you can have an appointment from anywhere. So if you need physio treatment, wherever you are, however busy your day is, you can still have access to the care you need.

There are however many other reasons, including:

  • Continuity of care – You will have access to YOUR physiotherapist whenever you need them, you will not be passed around to other therapists.
  • Time – you can get help NOW rather than waiting.
  • Location – your appointment can take place wherever you are. No need to come in and see us.
  • Follow-ups – you will receive as much or little input from us as you need. With the Virtual Healthcare Plan you will have a reply to any questions within 24 hours, directly from the online physio helping you who knows exactly what your recovery program looks like.
  • Costs – our Virtual Healthcare Plan offers excellent value for money giving you as much or as little input from your Physiotherapist as you need to recover from your injury or achieve the goals you have.

The best bit? You can do all this from your laptop and smartphone, from wherever in the world you are. If you travel, your Physiotherapist travels with you.

How is online physio different to NHS Physio?

The main difference is that we have the time to tailor our treatment around you, at a time to suit you, when you need us most.

There is no waiting list for our online treatment, and our bespoke treatment plan is exactly that – bespoke to you and designed to help you move better, feel stronger, and use your body to its potential.

With our Virtual Healthcare Plan communication is key, you will not be sent home with a printout of exercises and a date in the far future to come and see us again. We expect you to use our app to watch the videos of your exercises and feed back to us on a daily basis as to your progress. We find that most of the time any issues you are having with treatment can be sorted on the same day through the messenger feature on the app, meaning that we can make tweaks to your program and ensure your recovery stays on track.

Who is remote physiotherapy suitable for?

If you are in a remote location, or if you simply don’t have time for traffic, parking, and waiting rooms, an online physiotherapy consultation could help.

Our Healthcare plan is good for anyone that is happy to take a different approach to Physiopathy and is willing to take responsibility for their own recovery. If you are willing to follow your plan, do your exercises and communicate with us throughout, then this could be the approach for you. If you are looking for someone to hand you a printout of generic exercises and send you on your way, then maybe you need to find an alternative.

Physiotherapists specialise in the treatment of problems with joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, pain disorders, and rheumatological conditions too. The most common problems treated by a musculoskeletal physiotherapist are back, neck, shoulder and knee injuries or pain, and online treatment is no different.

Anyone can benefit from physiotherapy treatment whether you have a new or existing injury or condition, are looking to stay injury free, be more active, preparing for a sporting event or to aid recovery from sporting events.

The following groups are finding online physio consultations particularly useful:

  • People in Self-Isolation
  • People that can’t, or dont want to wait for NHS physio.
  • Low Back Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Hip Pain
  • Knee Pain
  • Sprained Ankle
  • Long term conditions
  • Niggly injuries that don’t stop you, but just aren’t getting better Aid fast recovery from an acute injury or flare up

  • Injuries that are causing a mild to moderate interruption to your normal daily or sporting life Post surgical rehabilitation programs, and injuries that are causing a major disruption to your life
  • Injury Rehabilitation
  • Frozen Shoulder
  • Rotator Cuff Dysfunction
